Your Rights but only if you are willing to defend them...

The following article is fairly good given that the author doesn't know what an assault weapon really is and doesn't seem to distinguish between a semi-automatic and a fully-automatic firearm.

Please be advised that McCain, et al., are planning on bringing the gun-grab legislation back to the Senate soon.  Again, please let your congress persons know your thoughts via their website - either write and/or call them often.  We're told that we should not judge a group of people (Muslims in particular) by how a 'few' individuals act yet our legislators seem to think that the action of a few should condemn all law-abiding gun owners.  They still don't see that they aren't even addressing the problem but merely a couple symptoms.

Of course the congress is also attacking many of the other Bill of Rights Amendments, many by regulations or executive orders and not just laws.  This must stop.

BTW, I wonder who the person from Russia is who is reading this blog.

Yup, I support this message

This week's news

Is this why there was such a push for the "Ground-Zero" Islamic center:
http://dailycaller.com/2013/02/26/us-imam-calls-on-muslims-in-us-to-wage-jihad/  This loser is completely disgusting in his terms and where he said what he said.  If any Baptist, Catholic, or any other religious leader had said something similar, they would, rightfully so, be denounced widely by the media at the very least.  But do we hear so much as a peep?  Unfortunately, no.

Here's a post that I personally think is well worth reading all the way through and even taking the time to play the embedded videos.  Even though this person is self-professed left-leaning they put together a fairly cogent argument against the recent attacks on the Second Amendment in the U.S. Senate.  Read it here: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fkontradictions.wordpress.com%2F2013%2F04%2F20%2Fdear-democratic-gun-control-lobby-how-to-get-better%2F&h=gAQHc4-KF
Warning - there is a gun-shaped graphic embedded in that story.

Criminals - or- Illegal Immigrants

Following is a letter I've sent to my Senators.  If you want to use it you may certainly copy and paste it and edit it to suit your tastes in communicating to your elected officials.  (If you need to look up your senators or representatives you can do so here: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm  - or here: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/  )

Dear Senator _____,

I urge you most strongly to resist any urging to allow illegal immigrants that are currently in our country to stay.  Put simply, they are criminals.  They have broken the law.  They must leave.

I have friends who entered this country legally and some that have even become citizens.  They also do not appreciate those who have arrived in our country illegally.  My grandfather came to this country legally.  It's not hard to do.

Instead, these criminals need to go back to their country of origin and apply to enter the U.S. legally.  If they did so, I would even be in favor of setting aside the fact that they broke our law by being here in the first place when considering their application.

There is too much at stake.  Those unemployed and those no longer looking for work deserve better chances.  Allowing criminals to take and keep jobs that citizens might be able to do weakens our economy.  Anything done to weaken our economy also weakens the country's strategic security.  Anyone supporting such actions are working against the best interests of our country and its citizens.  Some might even call that treason.

While a few of the provisions in the proposed reform bill do make sense and would help improve the security of our country that does not give license to harm it with the other damaging provisions.  I believe in helping "...your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,...." but charity begins at home.  We must first rebuild a strong nation and help others help themselves.  A strong economy will better enable the U.S. to help others.  It is a far better thing to return an educated person to their home country and build a strong economy their instead of keeping that person in the U.S.  The former would create markets for our goods and improve the human condition overall.  The latter merely squanders the potential of the individual for a short term return.

I would also encourage strengthening or eliminating immigration loopholes such as women arriving in the U.S. in the late stages of pregnancy in order to have their baby automatically gain citizenship.  That is gaining advantage via fraud and must be stopped.  There should not be long hearings and appeals for those over-staying their visas before they 'might' be deported.  It is really that simple.  Strictly enforce the laws that already exist.

To sum up: as your constituent I am asking that you do everything in your power to stop ignoring criminal activity.  Please take action in that direction.  Thank you.

Respectfully,

James Riddell

Where's my money?

I'm afraid of stupid people, where can I get paid for having to put up with these types?
http://dailycaller.com/2013/04/08/ny-man-wins-1-6-million-due-to-phobia-of-frogs/

Why is it that the First Amendment seems to protect phone calls, emails, and text messages but the Second Amendment is only supposed to protect muskets?

What he said: http://dailycaller.com/2013/04/09/lars-hedegaard-on-the-issue-that-nearly-had-him-murdered-immigration-video/

Why do some immigrants try to fit into, and adopt, the culture and language of their new country but others seem to think that 'their' ways (which they left behind) should be respected regardless of the laws and mores of their adoptive country?

I agree with the Associated Press in that we should stop using the term 'illegal immigrants'.  I vote that we should just label them 'criminals' and go from there.  I'm all for legal immigration, after all, it's how the United States started and grew.  I have some very good friends who are legal immigrants and some that even became citizens (I was honored to be able to attend a swearing-in ceremony for one.)  BTW, none of them have much good to say about the illegal ones.

A Jehovah's Witness person once told my father that his children weren't "his own."  His response was that he'd like to know who they belonged to since he'd been paying for us all these years.  Thank the people of the 60's, 70's, & 80's for making it so that teachers and neighbors couldn't discipline other people's children.  That's why we have so many spoiled brats running around now.  They are the same people who are unwilling to train their dogs, etc. so the dogs don't bite children.  So maybe the comment recently about how 'your children are not yours' may not be far from wrong.  http://www.katsandogz.com/onchildren.html  I still want to know where to submit my reimbursement form for all the money that I spent on (not) my children.
